A Painting to Fly Away Upon

In Gus Kahn’s lyrics to his 1927 song, Persian Rug, he writes:

“On my Persian Rug,
I can stray, far away,
Into the land of my dreams
On my Persian Rug,
wishes too, all come true
,
………….
………
On my Persian Rug,
cares of day drift away
,
Leaving the gold of my dreams”.

I ask, is not a painting a flying carpet
to carry you away?
