This was simply
One of those little things
My mother did
Unnoticed by others
Yet filed in some recessed
Portion of my brain
Suddenly this morning
As I ran my own vacuum
On the living room rug
An image poked me:
Her wrist flicking the
Electrical cord of her Hoover
Between the wall outlet
And her fingers
Making a grand arabesque
Of momentary duration
